For the second year running, WA Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan APM will lead a group of motorcyclists on the Wall to Wall Ride from Joondalup to Canberra to raise money for Bright Blue, the Commissioners Fund for Sick Kids.
All proceeds will be used to purchase a Confocal (3D) Laser Scanning Microscope for the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research.
In September 2010, more than 37 motorcyclists and support members from WA Police joined other police jurisdictions for the inaugural ride. Another contingent has been formed to ride on 10 September 2011 from the Joondalup WA Police Academy to Canberra’s National Police Memorial. Each rider must raise a minimum of $5,000 prior to departure and all riders aim to exceed the $240,000 raised last year.
The riding contingent of 56 will take annual leave and complete the fundraising trip at their own expense.
