Lake Clifton Bushfire

Arson Squad detectives are continuing to investigate several bushfires at Lake Clifton which occurred on Monday 10 January 2011.

The fires were reported just before noon along the north bound lanes of the Forrest Highway in Lake Clifton and an investigation has identified seven separate ignition points.

More than 90 phone calls to Crime Stoppers have been received from the public which has given investigators a number of lines of inquiry to investigate. The cause of the fires is yet to be determined, hence the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Police are particularly interested in hearing from witnesses who may have seen vehicles parked in the north-bound lanes on the side of the Forrest Highway in the vicinity of the bushfires with fire under or around their vehicles.

The support from the community is greatly appreciated and police encourage anyone with any piece of information, no matter how small, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and callers can remain anonymous. In the case of arson, rewards of up to $50,000 are on offer to anyone who provides information that leads to the identification and successful conviction of an arsonist.
