Three of the best receive APMs

Three Western Australia Police employees have been awarded with an Australian Police Medal (APM).

Assistant Commissioner Nick Anticich APM began his policing career in 1980 with the Australian Federal Police. He became a detective in the mid 1980s and worked for the National Crime Authority in Sydney and Perth until 1996 where he was promoted to detective superintendent.

In 2004 he was appointed as Director Operations at Perth’s Corruption Crime Commission, before being appointed to his present position as Assistant Commissioner (Specialist Crime) in July 2009. He has been involved in a significant number of operations targeting organised crime syndicates throughout Australia and in South East Asia, including outlaw motor cycle gangs.

He has contributed significantly to investigating corruption related issues within policing jurisdictions and at all levels of government.

He has significant experience in a range of positions including Police Media, Traffic Support, and Corporate Research & Development, but more recently has headed up Great Southern and Mid West-Gascoyne as district superintendent. He has achieved significant results in reducing crime at both regional areas and has focused on improving each community’s social circumstances.
