Firearm safety

The first four rules for safe firearm handling are simple, easily memorised and if observed, will reduce the risk of incidents.

  1. Treat all firearms as loaded
  2. Always point a firearm in a safe direction (usually straight up, straight down, or down range, away from people), with the safety catch engaged and preferably open. Keep in mind what is behind a fibro wall!
  3. Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot with the target in your sights
  4. Always identify your targets and your surroundings
