
The Police Rangers were established in 1985 and provides young people between the ages of 12 and 18 with training in a range of leadership, personal development and team building skills and activities.
The introduction of Police Rangers into secondary schools, as part of the Cadets WA program facilitates a commitment by Western Australia Police to interact and form a positive relationship with young people.
Police Rangers activities are designed in such a manner that members can progress to the various stages at their own pace. Promotion is based on merit and examination.
Training Program
All participants can learn new skills, both adventurous and character building. These include:
- First Aid
- Drill
- Climbing
- Bushcraft
- Survival techniques
- Adventure training
- Navigation
- Abseiling
Uniforms
To build "esprit de corps", all Rangers are required to wear the Police Ranger uniform on parades, once they have completed the Probationary Rangers course.
Uniforms are issued free of charge to participants of the Cadets WA program.
