WA Police is urging people travelling and staying in the South West of the State to be mindful of the dangers of a fire in Ellen Brook (Shire of Augusta-Margaret River).
The fire may impact on people in the Prevelly and Kilcarnup areas. Motorists are advised to avoid driving where possible, but if necessary to be on the road, please slow down and take care.
Leavers heading to the South West for weekend celebrations are asked to take extra care and avoid these specific areas where possible, as many are novice drivers and may not have experience driving in bush fire conditions.
Anyone who needs to travel in the area should first check the Department of Environment and Conservation website, www.dec.wa.gov.au, the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of WA website, www.fesa.wa.gov.au or call 1300 657 209 for more detailed and current information about the fire.
