The WA Police Pipe Band takes part in the official opening of Elizabeth Quay in front of 25,000 spectators

This year marks a special occasion for the WA Police Pipe Band, celebrating 50 years of creating beautiful music and engaging with local, interstate and international communities.  With numerous celebrations from their anniversary CD, anniversary coin, concerts, dinner dances and the national championships, you are welcome to help them celebrate this special occasion.

The WA Police Pipe band are the current Grade 1 Australian Pipe Band Champions. Formed in 1966 the band is comprised of full-time police employees or volunteer guest members. OIC Sergeant Ian Stewart said, “Using the power of music to show a different side to the police uniform, the band is a highly effective engagement resource, not only with the community, but also with other military and emergency services personnel throughout the State.”

In addition to assisting Frontline Services at police stations and other specialist areas two days a week, our pipe band also attend on average 240 policing and community engagements each year and is a mixture of police officers and civilian staff.
