Aussies Back at Scarborough

The Australian Surf Life Saving National Titles – known as the Aussies – returned to Scarborough and Trigg beaches in late March for the first time since 2018.
The Aussies is the largest event of its kind in the world, with the nine-day contest involving 5,000 competitors from more than 300 clubs participating in some 480 events.
A decade long investment in the Scarborough foreshore precinct has now made it a popular destination for major events.
Scarborough Police played an important role in Aussies, providing additional patrols and community reassurance throughout the event, ensuring a positive atmosphere was able to be achieved both on and off the beach for both visitors and locals.
Scarborough OIC Senior Sergeant Haydn Farrow said the event was an immense success thanks to all contributing agencies.
“The Aussies was a huge achievement, which saw local government, partners, businesses, local community members and police pull together to make the event a real success,” he said.
