Foodbank approached Joondalup Community & Youth Engagement Unit asking for assistance in providing boxes of food to those in need over the Christmas/New Year period when many charitable organisations are closed.

Sergeant Sharon Powell attended Foodbank, and with the assistance of 1/C Stuart Coppock from Hillarys Police Station they collected 140 boxes. These will be distributed across the Joondalup District with 15 boxes allocated to each station.

Sgt Powell said in addition, Agency Manager for Foodbank Mandy Mountford has organised a referral card for police officers to hand to those in need to access Foodbank for additional supplies.

“A person can be issued with a membership card which is valid for six months,” she said.

“They can attend either the big Foodbank supermarket at Perth Airport or many of the outreach centres.”
