At around 12:40pm on the 26 January 2023, the Mercedes was detected driving at high speeds by WA Police Camera Operators. These operators immediately notified nearby police units, which resulted in Jurien Bay Police intercepting the Mercedes on Indian Ocean Drive, near Cervantes.

Jurien Bay Police arrested the driver, a 61-year-old East Perth man, and his vehicle was impounded. He was charged with reckless driving by speed and will appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on 23 March 2023.
