Deputy Commissioner Gary Dreibergs, Vaccine Commander with the West Coast Eagles

Deputy Commissioner Gary Dreibergs has hit the ground running in his new role as Vaccine Commander.

He was on hand to thank the West Coast Eagles as they rolled up to the PCEC Clinic for their third COVID-19 shots ahead of the start of the AFL season.

While the state has now surpassed the 90 percent mark for double dose vaccinations, there is still some work to do to lift rates in regional and remote WA, particularly amongst Aboriginal communities.

The Eagles Indigenous stars Liam Ryan, Willie Rioli and new recruit Sam Petrevski-Seton are setting a great example for their people in the effort to protect against COVID-19.

Mr Dreibergs also met the vaccination team at the clinic, who will be even busier next week for the start of a two-week vaccination blitz. The blitz will target third doses, with an extra 20,000 appointments to be made available across the State COVID clinicsThis will boost the capacity of these clinics to around 100,000 doses per week.
