The WA Police Force encourages former WA Police Officers who were injured or became ill at work and who were subsequently medically retired under Section 8 to apply to the WA medically retired Police Redress scheme.

This WA Government initiative was detailed in a media statement from the Minister for Police, Michelle Roberts.

The online application process is very straightforward and designed to be as hands-off as possible. For most applicants, there will be no contact beyond the initial application, and a letter with the outcome. It’s unlikely applicants will have to retell experiences that are painful or provide documentation, although if they do want to tell their stories, the application process invites that.

Visit the WA Police Redress Scheme website to apply.

If you can’t submit an online application yourself, the Medically Retired WA Police Officers’ Association will be able to help.

Applications are open until 8 April 2019.
