WA Police Force has unveiled one of Australia’s largest technology tenders aimed at complementing and improving its operational computer systems and devices used by frontline officers to service the Western Australian community.

WA Police Force Executive Director Frank Pasquale said the tender package was expected to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars and presented an important opportunity for ICT suppliers to assist the agency with its vital mission to provide an exceptional policing service.

Mr Pasquale said this tender package marked an important milestone in the digital evolution of the WA Police Force.

“Technology continues to develop at a rapid pace, and it’s essential that we provide our dedicated officers with the latest devices, systems and software,” Mr Pasquale said.

“While the WA Police Force already uses technology effectively to solve crimes and respond to the community’s policing needs, these new ICT Services contracts will further boost their capabilities by enabling a more seamless integration of systems and technology.

“We want to see what the ICT industry has to offer and we’re seeking submissions from the best and brightest locally, nationally and across the world.”

The ICT Services tender will be split into six Service Packages – each with an initial term of either three or five years. There will also be options to extend these terms, allowing for a total contract duration of up to 10 years.

Companies can bid on any combinations of these packages, based on their areas of expertise. The Service Packages are:

  • IT Management Services (includes help desk, disaster recovery and asset management services)
  • Cyber Security Services
  • Infrastructure Services (includes data centres and database management)
  • End User Computing (includes laptops and all mobile device software and hardware)
  • Application Development and Services for Microsoft systems
  • Application Development and Services for Oracle Systems.
