The Western Australia Police Force is ramping up its recruitment efforts with an engaging new series of commercials, appealing to the next generation of police officers.

Commissioner Col Blanch and Police Minister Paul Papalia launched the new “People Like You” campaign at the Police Academy this morning, showcasing the ads which start screening from tonight (Saturday 14 September 2024).

“Policing is a calling,” said Commissioner Blanch. “This campaign will appeal to those who are looking for ‘their people’, by showing realistic policing situations, but also depicting humour and humanity.”

The campaign was informed by officer interviews that demonstrated they are motivated by an interest in people. The best police officers are “people” people, and this can mean many things.

More than 100 officers were filmed in action over six days, reflecting the diversity of roles and situations you can expect in a policing career.

From sharing cups of tea with victims, to chasing bad guys, and using the latest technology in company with one-on one engagements, the advertisement is a roller coaster of everyday police experiences, bound to inspire the right applicants.

As the commercial states, “if this sounds like you, you’ve found your people.”

Minister Papalia said a career with the WA Police Force can be both exciting and rewarding.

“The Western Australia Police Force has more officers than ever before, and this new campaign will further expand the number of police on the frontline.”
