Standing by the jetty, the lucky winner of a WA Police competition held during the Perth Royal Show, nine-year old Isabella Hosking and her family prepared to board Cygnet V at Water Police – this year’s ultimate prize.

After going through the safety measures Isabella had only one thing left to ask. “Can we get going already? I want to see some dolphins,” she said.

With clear weather and still waters, it was the perfect day to set off and explore the Swan River. Water Police Acting Sergeant Mitch Ferris said it was a wonderful way to spend his afternoon.

“There’s nothing more wholesome than seeing young people so interested in the work we do and the awesome equipment we use on a daily basis,” he said.

The Hosking family had only praise for the WA Police Force with Isabella urging her older sister, Lilyana, to enter next year’s WA Police Perth Royal Show competition.

“I had the best time ever!” Isabella said. “I hope my sister wins next year so we can do this again!”
