The Mounted Section is part of the Counter Terrorism and Emergency Response Command Portfolio of the Western Australia Police.

The WA Police Canine Section was formed in 1993 with the initial intake of two police officers and two German Shepherd dogs.
The Western Australia Water Police was established in 1851 and is located in North Fremantle, Mandurah and Dampier and is responsible for policing Western Australia's 13,000 kms of coastline.
