Firearm Manufacturing Charges

Detectives attached to Taskforce Prosper – who are investigating the burglary at Claremont Firearms in Yangebup on Thursday 21 November 2019 - have charged a man in relation to the alleged manufacturing/modification of firearms.

Several search warrants were executed as part of the Taskforce Prosper investigation on Tuesday 26 November 2019. One of those search warrants was executed at residence in McKenzie Road, Samson.

It will be alleged several items of interest were located that are consistent with the manufacture/modification of firearms, along with several modified handguns, an amount of ammunition and a small quantity of Methylamphetamine.

The seized items, and subsequent charges, are not related to the burglary at Claremont Firearms.

A 50-year-old man from Samson has been charged with:
- Unlicensed Manufacture of Firearms/Ammunition
- 2 x Possess firearm in circumstances of Aggravation
- 2 x Unlicensed Person Possess Firearm/Ammunition
- Unlawful use of a Contrivance known as a Silencer
- 2 x Possessed Drug Paraphernalia
- Possess a Prohibited Drug (Methylamphetamine)

He was refused bail and appeared in the Fremantle Magistrates on Wednesday 27 November 2019, and is next due to appear in the same court on Friday 20 December 2019.
