Fire at High Wycombe supermarket
Published on
About 4pm, a person set alight toilet paper on a shelf within the supermarket located in the shopping village on Kalamunda Road. The fire spread to several shelves, emitting thick smoke, which activated the fire sprinkler system.
Staff and customers were safely evacuated from the store, and staff members were able to use fire extinguishers to put out the fire but not before the nearest fire sprinkler system activated, flooding the store.
The fire, smoke damaged stock, including all perishables within the store, and water damage from the sprinkles, has left the store with an estimated $100,000 damage bill.
Arson Squad officers would like to speak to any customers who were in the supermarket between 4pm and 4.15pm on Saturday 28 September 2024.
Anyone who saw any suspicious activity, or persons in the store, or who has any information relating to this fire, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestopperswa.com.au
Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
