Children's Crossings Unit

The Children's Crossings Unit manages all traffic warden-controlled children's crossing facilities in Western Australia. The unit is responsible for recruiting, training and assessing traffic wardens (crossing guards) as well as monitoring activities and the operation of children's crossings.

The unit also provides administrative support for the Children’s Crossings and Road Safety Committee which evaluates applications for new children’s crossings and reviews existing crossings (see below for further information/application information.)

Legal proceedings

Any breaches of traffic laws detected at children's crossings are documented and investigated. The Road Traffic Code (2000) outlines breaches that can occur at a children's or pedestrian crossing.
