National Terrorism Public Alert

Australia's current National Terrorism Threat Level is PROBABLE.

Australia's current National Terrorism Threat Level is PROBABLE.

The National Terrorism Threat Advisory System is a scale of five levels to provide advice about the likelihood of an act of terrorism occurring in Australia.

A threat level of probable means credible intelligence, assessed by our security agencies indicates that individuals or groups have developed both the intent and capability to conduct a terrorist attack in Australia.

In response, the WA Police Force publish the following as advice for the community:

  • Unless government authorities tell you otherwise, there is no need for you to change the way you go about your daily business. However, it is always good to know what you and your family would do in any emergency;
  • We urge the community to be vigilant and report anything they believe is suspicious;
  • Be aware that some businesses in Australia might require additional security checks, which could include airports.
  • Government is communicating directly with operators of critical infrastructure and public facilities, as a matter of course, to provide advice as required. There is a considerable amount of useful information already available to those organisations on government websites and through existing networks.

If you require a police response, please call 000 for life threatening emergencies or 131 444 for police attendance.

If you have information regarding suspicious activity, please contact the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400.
