Security of radiological material
Radiological materials have the potential to be used as weapons by terrorists and criminals.
They may be dispersed through a number of methods such as conventional explosive devices to which radioactive material has been added (dirty bomb) or dispersed through unshielded radioactive sources which expose the community to raised levels of radiation.
State and Territory Governments have been working with the Australian Government to implement the recommendations of the COAG Report for the Regulation and Control of Radiological Material.
Further information can be found on the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency website.

To report stolen or missing radioactive material, any suspicious activity or security concerns contact the WA Police Force on 131 444 or the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400.
